It’s easy to fall out of your healthy routine when colder weather sets in. During winter, we all seek the kind of creature comforts that can be found at the bottom of a hearty bowl of soup or beneath several layers of bedding. Indulging yourself in that warm, cozy decadence is a treat (and something you should be doing, in moderation). Unfortunately, though, it can be hard to find that extra motivation that we need in order to get back into healthier habits once spring rolls back around.
If you’re falling short in that department, rest assured that you are not alone! While we all deserve to look and feel our absolute best, it simply isn’t the case for everyone. So many of us fall into the trap of giving every ounce of our energy and attention to the world around us, while failing to ever give back to ourselves. Don’t fall into that trap, and if you’re already there, you owe it to yourself to break that cycle now.
Spring is the perfect time to make a positive change. I hope you will find your inspiration in spring’s inherent sense of renewal and rejuvenation, and I am here to support you in that process. I’m excited that you’re here with me, reading along, and I know what your time is worth. I want to help you make the most of the bit you spend here.
As you prepare to dive into your springtime routine, ready to tackle your fitness goals, I want to share a few tips that have helped me to achieve a healthier, happier version of myself. I hope they will do the same for you.
- Feast your eyes on the many colors of spring. As they say, we eat with our eyes, and spring is the best time of year to add variety to your diet. Stock up on seasonal fruits and veggies and try out some new recipes. Avoid anything too extreme; changes like that are simply not sustainable. Focus on creating delicious meals from whole foods that you’ll enjoy eating for many seasons to come.
- Schedule an appointment with yourself. It always seems so challenging to squeeze in one more task when you’re busy with your family, career, or both. Give this task the same laser-sharp focus that you apply to all of your other obligation. That’s exactly how important this is; your personal wellness should never be an afterthought. Add your personal fitness schedule to your calendar, just as you would all of your other appointments.
- Make it a group activity. Partner up with your friends, or use it as a way to make new ones. Fitness is so much more fun when you make it social.
- Remember that it’s ok to reward yourself. You’re working hard, so thank yourself with a special treat. Splurge on a new dress, schedule a spa day, or even just take a few moments to write in your diary. You’ve earned it!
- Finally, speaking of rewards, invest in some new active wear. Ditch the sweat pants, and pick up something bright that makes you feel fabulous! That extra boost in confidence goes a long way when you’re talking about motivation.
